Scientists are working on a holodeck of sorts. No-one is leaking any secrets as to ‘how’ they are going to accomplish this, but, scientists across the UK are working on the real virtuality network.

I’m ready now!

Imagine being anywhere you chose to be at any given time… Where we couldn’t hear the dryer buzzer, or the cat meowing, or the kids fussing, or the doorbell ringing… … …

Tiberius, Red Shirt & Pon Farr (Star Trek Colognes)

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Hubby’s birthday is fast approaching and since I’m married to a trekker I’m always on the lookout for that one Star Trek item that he doesn’t already own.

I was happier than a Red Shirt who made it back to the ship when I found out that I could now buy Star Trek inspired colognes!

Yes! Three scents will debut along with the new Star Trek movie, Tiberius, Red Shirt, and Pon Farr.

Hmm, I think he might like smelling like James ‘T’ Kirk…. And the Pon Farr, it’s for women! Ooo, talk about aitlu…..

Star Trek Wedding

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Justin Gruba made his girlfriend wear a bandana around her eyes in the the car. She ‘had’ to know something was up with that!

Upon arriving at their destination, the Detroit Science Center, he let her remove the scarf but had her keep her eyes shut tight.

Upstairs, Justin walked her onto the recreated set of Star Trek Voyager’s Enterprise, where he got down on one knee.  The result was an astounding yes!

Justin & Alissa are planning a mid-summer wedding, where else? On the bridge of the USS Enterprise!

The pair were the winners of the Science Center’s Star Trek The Exhibition Ultimate Wedding Package Contest. The prize includes a ceremony inside the exhibit, reception and two nights in the ST swuite at the MGM Grand in Detroit.

Alissa & Justin, Live Long and Prosper!

Star Trek Phone

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

We ran into an entrepreneur a few months back, at the Action Figure Museum, who was intent on producing a Star Trek type phone in the shape of the old communicator. I don’t think he realized that there are some on the market already. Or at least something really close.

I saw a blue tooth ST communicator that connects to your cell. (You keep your cell in your pocket or purse.) It then appears as if you have an actual cell communicator! Saw that on Gizmodo.

And Instructables even has directions to do that yourself!

Hmmm, wonder if that guy needs a partner? I bet I have his business card around here somewhere…

Who gets to see it first?

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

I had originally heard that folks that live in New Zealand were going to be the first to see the new Star Trek movie. Now I hear that Sydney will host the premiere. Then I heard that Vulcan Canada was going to get to see it first. Maybe they just meant ahead of us in the US.
