Crafty Trekkies

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Crafty people are such fun folks! And trekkies too!

Fellow trekkie, NiftyKnits has created little knitted meercats all decked out in their finest Star Trek fleet uniforms. She makes them to order, and has crafted a Kirk meercat, a Spock meercat, a Scotty, Bones and even a Uhura.

Yar

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Ya never know who you might meet at a ST convention. Case in point, at a recent event in California, Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar) learned that an attendee was a long lost cousin.

Denise was on hand to sign autographs at Atlantis Fantasyworld, a comic book store, in conjunction with the opening of the new ST film.

Denise spent just one season on Next Generation as Tasha Yar, but the trekkies among us will remember her character, forever.

Who’s Sitting In Your Aisle?

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

I read where Brad Pitt took his kids to see the new Star Trek movie.

Can you imagine?

Glancing down the row of seats and seeing Brad Pitt there.

Oh my.

Wonder why Angelina didn’t go? She’s not a trek fan?

Inquiring minds, ya know.

The Film

Monday, May 18th, 2009

We saw the new Star Trek movie last Saturday afternoon at the fantabulous Warren Theatres. Like all the other Star Trek movies we’ve seen, we stood in line. The line wasn’t as long as we’ve seen in years past. The crowd seemed to be middle aged and not the generation that the new film was supposed to be created for. None the less, it was a great movie.

The effects were great. No imagination needed.

The characters were incredibly believable in their recreated roles.

It was a great film and will be on our list to purchase, when it comes out on DVD.

Hope it’s not too long, we’re still waiting on Seaquest 2032.

Did You Know?

Not everyone can perform a Vulcan ‘v” with their hands?

Seems the original Kirk used fishing line to mold his hands into the Vulcan V.

Our newest Spock, portrayed by Zachary Quinto, couldn’t get his fingers to work either. And we thought Sylar could do anything! The new high tech solution? A medical grade ‘super-glue’!

A new California company, Solaren Corp. is planning to launch a solar farm into orbit before 2016. The satellite will be covered in solar panels to capture the suns energy 24 hours a day. It will then beam down the energy via radio waves to a ground receiver.

Star Trek Costume Contest

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Speaking of Orion slave girls, did you see the Star Trek costume competition where the winner wasnt even a finalist?

Yup, in a recent event, Star Trek fans wore their best costumes and entered to win the costume contest.

The finalists wore great examples of Star Fleet uniforms.  Just as they were about to announce the winner, in walked an Orion slave girl and won the competition.

Ladies, if in doubt as tohow to win your man, go green!

Star Trek Short Poem

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Spring has sprung.

April showers bring May flowers.

New Star Trek flicks bring out the Orion slave girls.

Well, not really, but it was worth a thought.
