I spoke to you just a couple of weeks ago about a place called Zenni, an online eyeglass store. Do you recall? Sure you do, just scroll back… I’ll wait. It included a photo of a busty lady wearing a t-shirt that said “I love nerds”. Now I know you remember that!
Anyhow, every single solitary time I hear the name of this e-commerce store, Zenni, my mind races, trying to find a correlation between Zenni and something. The little Einstein in my brain puts on his roller skates and goes from file cabinet to shelf to bookcase trying to find the connection.
The very first thing that comes to mind isn’t glasses, sorry Zenni, it’s the movie Contact.
In particular, the scene where Jodie Foster is returning to the very large array observatory located west of Socorro, New Mexico, where all the UFO enthusiasts are lined up in RV’s, dancing and singing and carrying on, and Jake Busey’s character is on top of an RV with a menacing stare, and everyone is yelling/singing/talking about Vega.
Vega.
How do you suppose I get from Zenni to Vega?
I think it’s the Xindi’s fault. You know, the Xindi (pronounced Zindee), the six fictional races in Star Trek Enterprise (where they launched a probe that attacked Earth in 2153 killing 7 million people).
Xindi in sound, is very similar to Zenni. I don’t really suppose that people at Zenni are really Xindi…
Quite the contrary in fact, their website is the perfect place to find a real bargain on eyeglasses. Fashion, style and affordability all at one place. Shoot, you could even buy several pair at their great prices!
Go ahead, check up on ‘em. You can read a review of them here: http://www.examiner.com/x-28795-Brooklyn-Liberal-Examiner~y2009m11d13-Cheap-eyeglasses-are-a-reality-Check-out-Erics-review-of-Zenni-Optical
When you’re done, order some. It might save the planet.
