Medical Bay

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Like some last minute, miracle cure, that the latest version of Star Fleet’s medical doctor whips up at the last possible minute to save lives…. Advancing Oxidative Stress Technology Oxis International, Inc. provides us with a potent antioxidant, Ergothioneine.

What ‘is’ Ergothioneine?

ERGO is a naturally occurring, water soluble, amino acid multifaceted antioxidant produced by microbes in the soil and most commonly found in (but not produced by) various species of mushrooms and grapes, meats and dairy products.

The extraction process from natural sources isn’t practical, and you’d have to eat an awful lot of the foods with naturally occurring ERGO to benefit.

The scientists at Oxis have figured out how to synthesize very pure ERGO. ERGO improves our body’s own defenses against oxidative stress and free radicals. This makes ERGO a great antioxidant to combat Anti aging, aids in maintaining our levels of Vitamin C,E and glutathione,

Oxis, International, Inc. (OXIS.OB) (OXI.PA) is presently trading with the penny stocks but you can read more about the company on their website athttp://www.oxis.com, or by following them on FB Oxis on facebook, or Twitter Oxis on Twitter. They’re ahead of their time, just like all the doctors of the Starship Enterprise.

Star Trek Storage

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

How do you store your Star Trek collectibles?

I’ve been using Xerox boxes and stacking them in the top of the closet. I’ve got a bunch of older computer paper boxes that are about half the size of the Xerox box and I’ve also been using them. Those I fill and put ‘under’ the closet. (Our closets have the floor raised about a foot off the ground and storage underneath. That area is too difficult to get to except for rarely used items, like say suitcases, so it’s a good storage space. Bad design….) I am a little bit concerned about the life of the cardboard boxes sitting on the bare cement (under the closets).

I had JUST started saving the Fresh Step plastic buckets for storage, figured they were water and pest resistant. Wouldn’t you know it though? As soon as I figure out a great use for the buckets – they quit making them!!!! Now Fresh Step comes in a non-reusable container….. I have switched brands JUST to get the bucket. Have to admit = I don’t care for the other brand, but I need that bucket!!!

I need long-term storage solutions….

What do you do?

STAR TREK LIVE

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

In June, Kennedy Space Center visitors can boldly go where no man (or woman) has gone before.

They can participate in STAR TREK LIVE, a new stage show that melds special effects, space technology and audience interaction. The half-hour production from CBS Consumer Products and Mad Science Productions is based on the TV series-turned-film phenom and is due to open June 11. The audience will play cadets at Starfleet Academy learning to live and work in space. Then — oops! — come problems involving a threat from a Romulan. The audience, with the assistance of a Vulcan, must work together to avert the threat. Clips from the 2009 Star Trek movie will add to the experience.

“It makes for a perfect blend of cool Star Trek stuff and real present-day (space) stuff,” says Leonard Lipes, Mad Science Productions managing director and producer of STAR TREK LIVE.

Five performances are scheduled daily at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and are included in admission ($38, adults; $28, children 3-11, plus tax. Younger children enter free). For more information, go to madscience.org/stageshows; for space center information, visit kennedyspacecenter.com or call 866-737-5235

Star Trek – The Exhibition

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

Where is the original set from the original series? It’s at the traveling “Star Trek – The Exhibition,” an almost 10,000-square-foot exhibit that just opened at the Aerospace Museum of California in McClellan Park and will be there till Jan. 5th.

It’s not ‘just’ costumes either, is sets. That’s plural! The bridge from The original Enterprise, NCC-1701, hallways, transporter, shuttlecraft, the Guardian of Forever ‘time portal’ and the one and only Captain’s chair.

Not to be outdone – there’s even some Klingon memorabilia.

You get to see the whole thing, rough edges and all. In fact some of the lights on the early bridge control panels were just pieces of hard candy, glued on…

Still – it’s a site ANY Star Trek fan would love to see!

Star Trek Ornaments 2010

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

My Hallmark store moved. Now they’re more ‘visible’ from the street, but I sure can’t see that they get more traffic from their new location. They used to be ‘inside’ where the people are…

Since I don’t frequent the store very often, I was unaware, but, the new catalog is in and the 2010 Christmas Star Trek ornaments are in there!

We’ll have the op to sign up to be the first to buy them when they hit the stores.

Up this year?

Star Trek XI Enterprise ($33)
Kirk ($15)
and Kirk & Spock sparring ($29) (plays the music from the Lirpa fight scene on Vulcan.)

Can’t wait!!!
