SCRIPT!

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

This weekend, Roberto Orci, a Star Trek XII co-writer wrote THIS on Twitter reporting the status of the script of the Star Trek status of the script of the Star Trek sequel :

“aiming to turn in first full draft of Star Trek in six weeks or so.”

Orci estimate would mean that the Star Trek sequel script draft would be handed in around the last week of March.

All I can say is “Cool Beans” (with a big smile on my face.)

Antique Stores

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

The week before Christmas I was toolin’ around Norman and decided to stop in at my favorite antique store as you never know ‘where’ you might stumble across an old Star Trek item.

Downtown was busy, and I had to circle the block more than once before I found a parking spot. Then I had to walk all the way down to the store.

And
IT WAS GONE!!!!

Geez. That’s what happens when you don’t frequent a store enough. It goes away.

Does anyone know? Did The Company Store just move? Tell me they just moved…..

Since I was in a ‘tique’ mood I drove on over to Gray street and went in an antique store that I’d seen but was always too busy to head into. It was nice but it was NO Company Store! I saw ONE. ONE single solitary Star Trek item. It was an old board game. I didn’t look at it too close as the original owner had obviously sold it at a garage sale. They’d taken a magic marker and written $2 on it.

WHY WHY WHY??????

Course that wasn’t the price at the antique store….. but it had that magic marker on it… WHY WHY WHY….

Phlox and Cell Isolation

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Medicine is quickly catching up with Star Trek. Dr Phlox would be pleased to see us 21st century humanoids learning and doing so much with stem cell technology.

STEMCELL’s Tetrameric Antibody Complex (TAC) technology, a variety of cell separation solutions are available for the positive or negative selection of a wide range of cell and sample types.

One such futuristic discovery has been trademarked as EasySep®. EasySep® is a powerful immunomagnetic column-free cell isolation system that uses specific antibodies to target cells and crosslink them to magnetic particles. Another new technology named RoboSep® is the first instrument to offer true walk-away automation of immunomagnetic cell isolation by performing cell labeling and magnetic separation steps.

There’s also RosetteSep. This procedure is a rapid cell separation method for the isolation of highly purified cells directly from human whole blood.

Looks like we haven’t quite mastered the art of inter-species cell isolation. Just give our scientists time.

Stasis Chamber for Sleep Apnea Treatment

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

A stasis chamber is basically an emergency medical chamber used in Federation starships. They’re primarily used to hold a patient in suspended animation until medical treatment can be rendered.

On Voyager, the entire crew, except for Seven and the Doctor were put in stasis in order to save time by traveling through a dangerous nebula instead of going around it.

Star Trek in general hardly ever shows sleeping disorders of its crew. You rarely hear snoring or see anyone sleeping with their sleep apnea treatment machines, probably because the good holographic doc always has a good, inventive solution to most any medical issue.

Today, circa stardate 11010.10, we have access to a simple nighttime mouthpiece that reduces snoring by repositioning the tongue and lower jar. The Silencer keeps the tongue from falling back and blocking the airway, thereby reducing snoring.

Many people view Star Trek with a vision of a more healthful future for mankind. Some of those people say “Why wait?” and forge ahead with designs and technology far ahead of their time.

Dr Halstrom’s The Silencer may not have been invented because of Star Trek, but the oral device is certainly ahead of its time.

Q in a Snoring Mouthpiece

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

On Star Trek Next Generation, episode # 61, named Deja Q, Q was stripped of his powers and made human.

Upon becoming human, Q was filled with human emotions as well as physical needs. After being thrown into the brig and surrounded by nothing but four walls and boredom he quickly fell asleep.

Since Q was no longer omnipotent and just a mere man, he was subject to the myriad of problems man has, including snoring.

Q, not understanding sleep described it later as feeling weak and not being able to stand.

Today’s technology is quickly catching up with Star Fleet. Today you can purchase a transparent snoring mouthpiece that aids in reducing snoring in ‘humans’ and probably would work on the occasional alien, or other omnipotent being, should they decide to ‘play’ human for a while.

“As I learn more and more what it is to be human, I am more and more convinced that I would never make a good one. I don’t have what it takes..without my powers I’m frightened of everything. I’m a coward…and I’m miserable. And I can’t go on this way.” Q (Stardate 43539.1)

Talk About Roaming Charges

Friday, October 8th, 2010

Imagine if you were using your ‘communicator’ on board the Enterprise, or when you beamed down to a planet, or maybe when you’re merely in orbit around our own planet.

What would your roaming charges be?

Out of this world probably!

Luckily for us, roaming charges will soon be a thing of the past. Today, right now, you can find affordable roaming plans for mobile phones as well as Smartphones. With proprietary SIM card technology and the freedom of “unlocked” mobile phones you can now get a simple, low-cost solution. Imagine FREE incoming calls in 65 countries, FREE incoming SMS from anywhere in the world, and the most affordable rates for outgoing calls.

Best of all you can get this mobility in a no contract, pay as you go plan giving you affordable roaming, at least here in the US.

They’re working on the rest of the universe.
