Collaborative Brainstorming

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

There’s a new way to ‘work together’ and it’s called Qikpad.

This handy online tool allows multiple people to all log in and work on the same project.

Now, while I wouldn’t utilize this for proprietary works, Or the formula for transparent aluminum, I can certainly see where this site would work for many a collaborative effort.

Collaborative brainstorming at it’s best!

Save the Whales

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Remember when Scotty shared the formula for transparent aluminum in Star Trek IV? It resulted in the clear compartments that ultimately saved the whales. Well, it looks like transparent aluminum is becoming a reality now!

A team of scientists from Oxford have created a transparent form of aluminum by seething the metal with the worlds most powerful soft x-ray laser. A pulse from the laser knocks out a core electron from every aluminum atom (in a test sample) without disrupting the structure. This resulted in an aluminum that is nearly invisible to extreme ultraviolet radiation.

Way to challenge time and space Scotty. How’d you do it?
